Summary
Poly (ADP-Ribose) Polymerase [EC 2.4.2.30] is involved in single-stranded DNA break repair. It is integral to a programmed cell death model based on caspase cleavage. PARP is composed of four domains of interest: a DNA-binding domain, a caspase-cleaved domain, an auto-modification domain, and a catalytic domain. The DNA-binding domain is composed of two zinc finger motifs. Inhibitors of PARP-1 are being studied in the treatment of cancer.
