BioAssay Systems scientists have over 20 years of experience in assay development and have designed over 90 assay kits for research and drug discovery. In addition to providing high-quality assay kits, BioAssay Systems offers a variety of services of utility to researchers in academia or industry. BioAssay Systems has successfully completed analytical services for food industry, biotech and pharmaceutical companies. These services covered a wide variety of projects including developing assays to trouble shoot processes, executing screening assays and performing analytical assays for FDA submittals.

Analytical Services: BioAssay Systems has a large repertoire of assays for measuring a vast array of key analytes in biological, environmental, food and beverage samples. Our analytical services include all assays we offer, in particular, we offer the following:

Biodegradable Polymers: BioAssay Systems has developed a proprietary kinetic fluorometric assay to quantify D-lactate containing polymers, such as PLA and PLGA, in tissue samples. BioAssay Systems has successfully performed this assay to measure the degradation of polymer coatings on implanted devices for three different medical device companies. Results from these projects were critical for two CE Mark Approvals and the FDA approval of two medical device Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) applications.

Key Features:
1. Useful to assess remaining polymer coatings on implanted medical devices;
2. Accuracy and sensitivity of the assay are not affected by polymer MW, which will decrease over time after implantation;
3. There is no requirement to remove tissue from the sample, the polymer on both the device and in the tissue are measured together;
4. Depending on the nature of the sample and polymer composition, sensitivity as low as 1 µg is possible.

Lead Discovery Services: BioAssay Systems has developed a range of assays for performing lead optimization and characterization. Targets include but not limited to arginase, lipase, α-amylase, α- or β-glucosidase and kinases.
